Welcome to Maths Study Hub ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and share information when you use our website, mathsstudyhub.nz (the "Site"). Our practices are governed by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Accounts are managed through our authentication provider, Supabase.
  • Payment Information: When you purchase a subscription, your payment details are processed by our secure payment provider, Stripe. We do not see, collect, or store your credit card information on our servers.
  • Activity Usage: We record which activities and features are used on the Site. This helps us understand what is popular and how we can improve our content. We do not track individual question attempts or detailed scores for analytics purposes.
  • Classroom Data: When students join a teacher-led classroom session, we collect their display name, session code, and in-session scores. This data is used solely to facilitate the classroom experience for teachers and students.
  • Usage Analytics: We collect non-identifying information such as pages visited and browser type through Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare's analytics are privacy-first and do not use cookies or track individuals.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • Create and manage your account and subscription.
  • Process payments securely.
  • Understand which activities and content are popular, and use this to improve our offerings.
  • Provide classroom functionality that allows teachers to set activities for their classes.
  • Communicate with you, including sending service-related emails like password resets or subscription confirmations.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the following trusted third-party services that are essential for our operation:

  • Supabase: To manage user authentication, accounts, and store application data.
  • Stripe: To process subscription payments securely.
  • Cloudflare: For website hosting, security, backend services (Workers), and privacy-first analytics.
  • Google Fonts: To deliver typography. Google may collect basic usage data such as IP addresses when fonts are loaded.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored securely using Supabase hosted infrastructure. Our backend services run on Cloudflare Workers. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

Our Site does not use tracking cookies. When you log in, an authentication token is stored in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. This token is removed when you sign out. Cloudflare Web Analytics operates without cookies and does not track individual users.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and associated data for as long as your account is active in order to maintain the functionality of your account and the Site. This data is kept to support the operation of our services, not for analytics or marketing purposes. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted. You may also request data deletion at any time by contacting us (see below), and we will action your request in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

8. Your Rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of any inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.

You can view and update your account details at any time by logging into your account via the "My Account" link.
