L3 Complex Numbers
AS91577
Apply the algebra of complex numbers in solving problems
AS91577 is the complex numbers exam in Level 3 Calculus. As well as complex numbers themselves (rectangular and polar form, Argand diagrams, De Moivre’s theorem, solving equations in z, and loci), it tests the algebra they rest on: surds, quadratics and the discriminant, cubic equations, and the remainder and factor theorems. Some question types were in every NZQA paper from 2013 to 2025: a remainder or factor theorem question, a cubic with one root given, and finding roots with De Moivre’s theorem.
